The Swedish sociologist who studied issues related to race discrimination in the US during 1944 is Gunnar Myrdal. She is the author of "An American Dilemma: The Negro Problem and Modern Democracy" which was published during that year. The publishing of the book was funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The organization decided to fund Myrdal's job because they thought that she, due to her condition of being a foreigner, could express a more unbiased opinion towards the issue.
