During the Mexican Revolution, the Buffalo Soldiers were dispatched to Chihuaha, to apprehend or kill general Francisco Villa. They ended up being captured by the enemy, but in the summer of 1916, they were freed, which led to tensions between the US and Mexico to cool. They aided the US from 1866 to the early 1890s in the Indian Wars, serving a variety of posts in the Southwestern United States and the Great Plains.
