How did life in the suburbs influence consumer spending in the 1950s

    There was a major paradigm shift in spending on consumer goods. This was the result of the end of World War II and the ensuing 'baby boom'.

    People needed automobiles, to start with, to get them to and from the place of work. From there it went on to shopping and the desire to accumulate.
