They traveled to Ireland for sure. 10% of the population is red-haired in Ireland. This is evidence that Viking gentlemen lingered in Ireland to court their favorite Gaelic lassies. It wasn't a stylish marriage, because the Viking could afford no carriage (the truth is the Viking had clobbered the carriage-maker during the raid), but the Gaelic lassie would look sweet upon the seat/saddle of a horsey bred for two.
