What were two reasons for the rapid spread of slavery in the American colonies?

1. Africans migrated to the colonies to escape from starvation.

2. Colonists found that they could profitably grow cash crops with slave labor.

3. Indentured white laborers who arrived in New England were sold as slaves in the south.

4. Slavery was already common in the Caribbean when rice was introduced in South Carolina.

5. The Spanish sold the American Indians in their Caribbean colonies as slaves to the American colonies.

    I am very certain that the first reason is option 2.

    The other reason, I believe could be 5.
