The Indo-European family of languages is one of the largest and most important language families, boasting the largest number of speakers in the world. Major European and Asian tongues belong to it. They are spoken in Europe, Asia, the Americas. The Proto-Indo-European language is thought to come from a region in today's Ukraine, Southern Russia and the Caucasus, where it was spoken during a historic period that ends in 3400 BCE.

The Indo-European family is a group of related languages that are believed to descend from an hypothetical Proto-Indo-European language spoken between 5000BC and 2500BC.
Some Indo-European languages (alive) are: English, Spanish, Hindi, Russian, Armenian, German, Lituanian, Polish, Portuguese. Extint Indo-European languages could be Latin or Hittite.
