    2. Industrialization completely changed the way people lived and earned an income. As urbanization increased and there was still rampant poverty in rural area, women and children flocked to cities and factories to earn a living.

Compared to men, women and children were seen as a cheaper form of labor with little to no rights. Women started to work, for the first time, in urban textile factories. Children as young as 8, were working in coal mines to make very little money.

    3. Industrialization gave rise to a new class of business people how had immense wealth. This was true for the landowning class who had the money to invest latest factories and employ cheap labor to do the work. All of this combined with a rail network and mass production, made a lot of people very wealthy. However, not everyone had the equal opportunity to advance in society.

The average laborer did not have a lot of rights and basic services such as schooling and health were not provided. Many people were born into a social class and stayed that way.

    4. Not always - most people who left their rural homes for towns and cities often found themselves in ghettos. Due to a lack of money, a lot of these rural folk lived in cheap housing where up to 10 members of a family would share one room. Urban planning was very weak and these places were not only full of crime but had poor infrastructure.
