    When the French first came to America between the 1530's and 1540's they engaged in fur trading with the American Indians. Also, the french learnt their languages and ways, treated them with respect and had no interest in displacing them off their lands. This led the Natives to side with the French later.

    The reason why most American Indians initially supported the French in the French and Indian War was because the British were taking control over their land. On the opposite side, the french treated the as equals and had no interest in displacing them from their lands
