Which was a cause of the French Revolution? The French king did not want to support the American Revolution. Napoleon had established an absolute monarchy in France. The common people paid all of the taxes. The French king forced citizens to serve in the military.

    The king did support the American Revolution (costing lots of money) and Napoleon came after the revolution. The uprising happened because the common people were starving, struggling and being heavily taxed while the rich lived happily.
