Within this particular time period - - 1763 to 1783 - - the United States began its battle for Independent due to a series of taxes being implemented on the American colonists as a result of a huge debt accumulated after the 7 Years' War with France. As a result, Americans, frustrated at being taxed without adequately being represented in government, first sought to join and be represented in England's parliament, but upon rejection from the king and upon more taxes being implemented on the colonists, found themselves battling an uphill battle against the British to gain their own independence so that they could establish their own taxes from a localized government, as opposed to one overseas.
