It means many opportunities for one's voice to be heard

    Explanation:

If democratic participation were limited to the elections of representatives every 4 years, the public would barely have any options to speak. Legislators and political leaders would not be held accountable. Citizens would be unable to affect policies or to push for changes in their life.

In fact, political action, association and social movements are an integral and maybe even more crucial part of democracy than voting. These grassroots movements are the space where people can find solutions to their everyday problems or find like-minded people who share the same concerns.
