Why do people like legends?

This may be correct or incorrect, but I feel people like legends because they've changed something in this world for everybody. Whether it is bringing joy from their music, how they dance aka MIchael Jackson. How their voice can speak them, or how they can relate to your music. Simply donating to those who are in need, making someone's day or just doing kind stuff in general.
