In order to be on the front lines of battle in the Union or Confederate army, a woman a. had to become a doctor. b. had to disguise herself as a man. c. had to be single and between the ages of 18 - 23. d. had to have permission from her husband, and could serve only as a nurse or cook.

    The answer is B. Women were not allowed to fight in the civil war but many just disguised themselves to do it anyway.
