The 1920s have been characterized as a decade of economic, social, and cultural change. Analyze the extent to which the First World War and consumerism affected United States society during this period.

    The First World War, which raged from 1914-1918, ended up uniting a country that was at first very opposed to any American intervention in Europe. War mobilization boosted the US economy, and paved the way for the "roaring 20s", which increased average purchasing power.
