The Sacco and Vanzetti trial really illustrated the "Red Scare" - the fear of radicalism and extremists. It also showed the animosity towards immigrants and reinforced the idea of 100% Americanism, a nativist and patriotic movement.

Sacco and Vanzetti were two Italian immigrants were sentenced to death for allegedly killing a paymaster. There was strong popular assumption of their guilt because they were also know to be anarchists. The trial was really unfair and the judge was biased, and they were later executed in the electric chair.
