    The second piece of the Declaration of Independence is the preamble, which acts as the executive summary of the document.

    This allows the author to state at the outset what they are broadly arguing for, before getting into the full argument in the body of the text.

    After the preamble comes the body of the text, which is broken up into two parts, and is followed by the conclusion.
