    In US presidential election of 1996, Bill Clinton won against Bob Dole by 8.2 million in popular vote. Bob Dole was the Republican candidate at the time and only got 40.7% of the vote. The voter turnout was only 49% making it the lowest presidential election turnout since 1924.
