How did life in japan change under the tokugawad?

    Under Tokugawa Edo became the center of power in Japan. Daimyo lost a lot of their power. Japan became more unified and withdrawn from the world in a long period of isolationism.

    The Shogunate took control of Japan and led the military and the Emperor lost power.

    A strict class hierarchy was created Samurai were at the top of the chain, Farmers, Merchants (at the bottom of the chain), and Crafts People. Only Samurai were allowed to carry swords
