Separation of powers is the separation of branches under the constitution by the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of government. The check and balances play the roles of the three branches of government. This system was created so that no one branch will overpower the other.

is this good enough or do you need more

Ok. Separation of Powers: the US government has 3 branches of government, legislative, executive and judicial. each part has a different role and is responsible for different things.

Checks and balances are rules put in place to ensure no one branch can operate alone.

    no one branch controls everything.
