    Corn and potatoes are significant crops when it comes to feeding the world for a number of reasons;

    Explanation:

    The nutrient that is needed in most abundance by the human body is energy. Energy can be drawn from foods with calories.

    Now, corn contains the highest content of calories at (one ear contains 88 calories) followed by potatoes.

    Other that containing starch, which is an important part of any basic meal, they also contain other nutrients like; vitamin c, fiber and also potassium.

    In comparison with other food crops grown in America, corn takes the most population with more in the great plains and the Midwest.
