    Explanation:

    Jim Crow laws were enforced in the South to segregate the former slaves from the white population. The laws passed during Reconstruction era gave black equals rights but as soon the reconstruction period was over, the hatred for the colored people began taking legislative form which was evident in the "separate but equal" ruling by the supreme court of the U. S in Plessy vs Ferguson case. These laws segregated the colored people from both private and public space and it was even applicable to parks, playgrounds, etc.
