How has the study of finance changed since the beginning of the twentieth century?

    In the past, as with many disciplines based in science, much of the research based on gut instincts and feelings, rather than actually studying data. As models have been created, tested, and verified, finance has become a much more quantitative study, with these models being used for decision making rather than the old beliefs and feelings.
