Before, Egypt was composed of two parts: Upper Egypt (Southern Egypt), and Lower Egypt (Northern Egypt). Note: The Egyptians thought that the Nile delta to the Mediterranean was the south. So King Narmer, the king of Upper Egypt conquered Lower Egypt and was successful. He established a new government, and placed himself as Pharaoh - King of the Two Egypts.
