If most Americans have a generally unfavorable view of communism, both now and in the 1950's, why is Joe McCarthy considered a villain in U. S. history?

    Joe McCarthy is considered a villain in U. S. history because he accused many United States Official of being a part of communist spies without having any concrete proof.

    As it turned out, He made all of those accusations so he could eliminate His political competitors from the government.
