The correct answer is B, as U. S. intervention in Latin America soured the relations between them.

Between 1800 and the end of the last century, the role of the USA in the Latin American region was ascending. During those two centuries, the United States appropriated enormous territories, invested in agro-extractive companies with enormous advantages, formed strong alliances with the oligarchies that became entrenched in the local power after the wars of independence and planted their military bases throughout the continent.

The American advance on the continent experienced specific interruptions in that period of two centuries. The most significant, without a doubt, was the Cuban Revolution that not only questioned the economic and political power of Washington over the island. It also challenged cultural hegemony and claimed the dignity not only of Cuba but of the entire continent. Other experiences such as the Mexican Revolution, the Chilean Popular Unity or the Argentine Justicialism - among others - were sparks that were worsening, at times, the relations between the USA and the Latin American countries.
