through both the world wars fought in the european and american continents, why are they categorized as world wars?

    Well, the wars weren't just fought in Europe.

    World War I was fought in Europe but was also fought in the Middle East and Asia.

    World War II had a very active Pacific and European campaign.

    So, they are categorized as world wars because they were, well, world wars.
