    Explanation:

    The North were basically full Republicans, the Democrats supported having slaves and this in turn made them more money which in turn led to a Civil War. That is why you see the South break away from the Union when Lincoln, (A Republican) became president was because he wanted slaves gone, or at least contained and limited to try and appease the South.
