Sanskrit is the mother of most North Indianlanguages. Modern Dravidian languages have borrowed words from Sanskrit, and Western Indian languages such as Konkani, which belong to Indo-Iranian group of languages have borrowed words from Dravidian languages. The adoption of Indonesian as the country's national language was in contrast to most other post-colonial states, as neither the language with the most native speakers (Javanese).
