    The correct answer is Haiti

    This was a French colony which was actually called Saint-Domingue. It is found on the western part of the Hispaniola island. In 1804, during the Napoleonic wars, they managed to gain their independence which is when the country changed its name to Haiti, which is the indigenous name.
