Why did the Protestant reformation add urgency to Spanish exploration

The Protestant Reformation was a huge threat to the Catholic Church, as it attracted lot of people, and was quickly spreading out, even pushing out the Catholic Church out of some countries. The Spanish were Catholics, and the Spanish crown was loyal to the Catholic Church, so in order to preserve, spread around, and give it more power, the Spanish used their exploration missions. Once the Spanish managed to conquer big portions of the Americas, they immediately took lot of Catholic missionaries with them, and they forced the local population to convert one way or another. This resulted in millions of new followers for the Catholic Church, lot of new territory where it had power, and it also managed to obtain lot of wealth through it.
