How did lutheranism become a revolution in the early sixteenth century?

    Martin Luther, the originator of Lutheranism, broke with the Catholic church and Catholic tradition by emphasizing faith rather than works, or payment, to profess belief in god. This was tied in to wider literacy and dissemination of the Bible through the printing press as well.
