Hinduism has its roots in an ancient religion called Brahmanism. Brahmanism itself was based on the texts known as Vedas. it was a sacrificial religion which emerged in India c. 900 BC. For some Hindus, there is a belief that Brahmanism should be retained as an important part of their religion, rather than considering it to be completely separate.
