What arguments does the declaration make in support of the colonies independence?

    Thomas Jefferson uses the ideas of John Locke from the Enlightenment. Jefferson argued that if the natural rights have been violated, then the people can reform or leave the government. Also, the list of greivences was used to describe incidents which the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness were violated by Britain.
