    It wasn't extreme (for them).

    Explanation:

I personally think breaking into Versailles and killing King Louis, Marie Antionette, and making their children work to death was a bit extreme, but the whole country of France was broke, and the kings family tried fleeing France and going to Austria. But back then, it was a war, and it wasn't too extreme for them.
