What was the benefit of the new England climate to the colonist when compared to Virginia?

    New England climate: warm summers, long and bitterly cold winters, plenty of rainfall and very little farmland. Virginia climate: mostly warm, hot summers, mild winters, excellent place for farming. The benefit of the New England climate : it prevented the spread of life-threatening diseases.
