    Southwest Asia, also known as the Middle East, from 1400 to 1700, and more, was dominated by two big powerful empires, one was the empire of the Ottoman Turks, and the other one of the Persians.

    Even though both of them were Muslim empires, they did not liked each other at all, and they were engaged in constant battles against one another, with the Ottomans gaining territory, than the Persians gaining territory, and so one for some 300 years.

    The reasons why there was such big hatred between the two Muslim empires was that the Ottomans were Sunnite Muslims, while the Persians were Shi'ah, which is also the reason why these two people do not like each other even nowadays.
