    Discrimination has an impact on sentencing and punishment, which is why we are often told that racism is impacts policy and every aspect of our daily life. If an individual and/or judge stereotypes a specific race, and is responsible for sentencing, then criminalizing an individual based on stereotypes is not unusual.
