The Nile provided the people with a wide range of uses: easy transport, extremely fertile soil for farming, a regular predictable pattern of rising and falling, as well as a hunting ground for a variety of different animals such as fish, birds, and quite a few different animals. These attributes allowed people to settle and create farms, and build food surpluses. This encouraged the few people that came to stay, and they then went from villages to cities.
