    Center of the Slave Trade

    Explanation:

The United States banned the transatlantic slave trade in 1808. After that, domestic slave trade boomed and New Orleans became the center of the domestic slave trade. Slave traders almost brought one million people from different parts of the country to New Orleans. Those enslaved people were mostly used in sugar cane and cotton fields in Louisiana. That's how New Orleans played an infamous role in domestic slavery.
