What was the South's plan at the beginning of the Civil War? How was the South affected by the growth of Southern industries after the CW?

Anaconda plan, military strategy proposed by Union General Winfield Scott early in the American Civil War. The plan called for a naval blockade of the Confederate littoral, a thrust down the Mississippi, and the strangulation of the South by Union land and naval forces.

Cotton plantation slavery existed because of the Industrial Revolution in Britain, which created an enormous demand for cotton to be spun into thread, and woven into cloth. This enormous demand for cotton was mostly met through the development of cotton plantations staffed by slaves across the American south.
