Farmers depend on few different sources of water.

    Explanation:

Crops need water to grow and farmers were mainly dependent on the following sources for the growth of crops:-

    1. Surface water which included rivers, lakes and open canals.

    2. Ground water from wells.

    3. Rain water which was seasonal during rainy season. They used to collect water in tanks and rain containers. Major crop production like rice and corn grow only during rainy season.

The most dependable water resource has always been groundwater as it is of good quality and can be used in farms without treatment. It is also a major source of irrigation.
