Was imperialism a legitimate and proper policy for the US in the late 19th century?

    It was legitamte, we took over Hawaii in 1896 and annexed them offically in 1906, so yes, we did that. Was it proper? Well from our persective, it was, we wanted a trade route with Asia, and Hawaii is conviently half way, along with the Philippines
