There are varying levels of governance that are usually classified on a scale of levels of representation ranging from autocracy or dictatorship to democracy. Therefore, democracy and dictatorship are essentially polar opposites in the political system. However, there are mixed systems of government such as a constitutional monarchy which use elements of central authority i. e. dictatorship and also democracy in electing parliamentary bodies.
