Structure of the UN

It consists of 11 members, five permanent members who are China, France, Russia, USA and UK and six non-permanent members elected by the UN General assembly for a two year term. Each of the five permanent members have a veto power.

The main aim of the security council, one of the six organs is for the maintenance of peace and approval of peace keeping missions of the UN.
