What were the three provisions of the 1858 Dred Scott decision

    1. Dred Scott was not a person protected by the Constitution

    2. Slaves are property

    3. Property cannot be taken from an owner without due process

    Under these three premises, Dred Scott could not be free of a slave owner under any circumstance because he was a slave, therefore not a person but property, and couldn't be taken away unless due process was served on his master.
