Both the American Revolution and the French Revolution were borne of dire economic conditions. Both revolutions were undertaken with the goal of independence in mind. Both revolutions spurred a strong response from the other nation. Both revolutions produced similar and seminal political documents. The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was adopted in France in August 1789 by the National Constituent Assembly.
