In the months leading up to the Civil War, the North and South had many conflicts. For example, the South felt that slavery should be legal, and the Northern states did not. These conflicts led the South to take action. On December 20, 1860, what did the Southern states begin to do?

    They began to secede from the northern states

    The south began to split to create the southern states. And the Civil War wasn't all about slaves. The south didn't like President Lincoln also the North wasn't treating the South well. They were being to think that they didnt need the south for cotton by planting and growing there own.
