    Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand

    The spark that caused the entire continent to be at war by August 1914 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the throne of Austro-Hungarian Empire, on June 28th 1914 in Sarajevo, Bosnia. This Sarajevo incident and Austria's' response was a spark that ignited the World War I.
