Three ways the roman catholic church responded to the spread of Protestantism in the sixteenth century

The official response of the Catholic Church to the Protestant reformation is known as the Counter Reformation. This included:

1. Attempts to reconvert people in areas that became protestant

2. Better education and training for priests

3. Spreading Catholicism to new lands and peoples

4. Founding of new religious order (such as the jesuits)
