The Iroquois consists of Six Native American Nations namely: Seneca, Onondaga, Mohawk, Oneida, and Cayuga and Tuscarora which is why they are also called Six Nations. They are also called People of the Longhouse because they invented the Longhouse.

The Men were the ones chosen as member representatives of the council and their functions include:

Attending regular meetings scheduled by the Tribal Council.

They were responsible for protecting their families from raiding Indian tribes and from animal attacks.

They were also responsible for hunting wild game so that their wives could prepare the meals.

They acted as delegates to the councils.
